Alien Some people wrongfully cite James Cameron’s big budget sequel as the better of the two movies, but they are missing the point of the films. In “Alien” the fear is claustrophobic, it is a cosmic fear of the unknown and the fear of being alone and fighting for your life against unimaginable horror. In “Aliens” the fear is more about jumping frights and shootouts. In this original and best Alien film, Dan O’Bannon showed that a science fiction film could make money and be commercially and critically successful thanks to his stellar script and the directing by Ridley Scott.
Signs M. Night Shyamalan did a good job of evoking the fear of alien life in this science fiction film. What Shyamalan does best is to keep the focus on the human element of alien abduction and alien terror by showing how a small family in the form of a microcosm for humanity would react in such a situation. Mel Gibson does a good job playing the doubting ex-priest who finds his resolve and life spun on its head with the news of aliens arriving on earth. The film does not linger too much on the actual horror of what the aliens look like, but focuses on the feelings they evoke.
Cloverfield There was a lot of hype around this neo-“Godzilla” flick by “Lost” creator/director J.J. Abrams even before anyone knew anythinga bout the project. The idea of a giant, alien monster wrecking havoc on a city is a classic monster movie cliché, but Abrams tried to put a new spin on it by putting the camera in a group of young people’s hands to show their viewpoint of the alien attack and how they responded. Many praised the design of the Cloverfield monster and its ability to destroy everything in its path. You might as well have been shooting it with a paintball gun for all the damage normal bullets did to it. Look for a sequel in late 2010 or early 2011.
Females Develop Plaque Psoriasis Earlier Than Males

Psoriasis may be one of the oldest recorded skin conditions. Psoriasis cannot be passed from one person to another, though it is more likely to occur in people whose family members have it. Psoriasis is more of an inconvenience inmost cases than it is threatening. Psoriasis vulgaris, also known as “plaque psoriasis,” is the most common form of psoriasis and affects 80% of people with the disease.
It tends to be a relatively persistent or chronic pattern of psoriasis that can be improved with treatment but is difficult to clear completely with topical treatments alone. Environmental factors such as smoking, sun exposure, alcoholism, and HIV infection may affect how often the psoriasis occurs and how long the flare-ups last.
Plaque psoriasis is the most common presentation of psoriasis and of all the patterns is the most likely to affect the typical areas of the elbows, knees, umbilicus and lower back. As the name suggests plaque psoriasis is marked by the presence of plaques on the skin. Plaque psoriasis is characterized by large areas patches forming particularly on the limbs and trunk; including the elbows, knees, scalp and lower back. Of the 7 types of psoriasis, plaque psoriasis is the most common and accounts for approximately 80% of psoriasis cases.
The first peak occurrence of plaque psoriasis is in people aged 16-22 years. Females develop plaque psoriasis earlier than males. Chronic plaque psoriasis is usually managed initially with topical agents. If plaque psoriasis is too extensive or severe to be effectively managed with topical treatments, phototherapy or systemic agents can be used and are usually very effective at improving and even clearing the psoriasis.
Rapid production of skin cells forces premature skin cells to the surface of the skin where they form thick plaques. Although Plaque psoriasis usually will not cause itching, itching, cracking, and pain on the skin may also be symptoms of plaque psoriasis. The skin plaques take on a silver white appearance and the inflammed skin underneath is red. The burning sensation can be brought on when adjacent skin or clothing rubs against the plaques.
As with other types of psoriasis, Plaque Psoriasis generally is a persistant, chronic pattern of psoirasis, which can be improved with treatment, but proves to be difficult to cure with just topical treatments. Treatments with the least side effects should generally be tried first and more potentially-dangerous treatments instituted only when resistance is demonstrated.
First line management of chronic plaque psoriasis is with topical treatments, including vitamin D analogues, topical corticosteroids, tar-based preparations, dithranol, salicylic acid and topical retinoids. Plaque psoriasis is the most common and affects 9 out of 10 sufferers. Plaque psoriasis is usually stable and remains unchanged for longer periods than the guttate variety and is called the chronic plaque psoriasis as compared to the acute nature of the guttate psoriasis.
If plaque psoriasis is too extensive or severe to be effectively managed with topical treatments alone, refer to a dermatologist for phototherapy and/or systemic agents. Loan Modification: Provides Mutual Benefit to Both Homeowner and Borrower

A loan modification is the most powerful and effective solution to avoid going to default on mortgage payments and keep the home safe from foreclosure. It is an agreement consented by both lender and homeowner to change the original terms and conditions of a loan to make the payments more affordable and more borrower friendly. Examples of changes are temporary or permanent reduction in loan interest rates, conversion from adjustable rate to a fixed rate of interest, and increasing the life or term of the loan. When successful, both lender and borrower derive benefits from loan modification. The lender will continue to receive payments and thus will be able to mitigate his losses and also have enough cash to sustain operations and stay in the business. The legal costs of repossession, expenses of maintenance while the home remains unsold, and the loss at foreclosure sale may really be a burden to the homeowner. Cisco Says It Does Not Help China Censor Web

Cisco Systems Inc. defended itself against a human rights group’s claims that the company aided Chinese officials in building a "great firewall" to block Internet user’s access to anti-government content.
Cisco is the largest producer of networking equipment and sells the same products worldwide. It does not customize the equipment to help repressive governments censor the Internet, General counsel Mark Chandler said at a Senate hearing Tuesday. The company’s routers and switches have basic security features that protect networks from viruses and service interruptions, he said.
"Those same features, without which the Internet could not function effectively, can unfortunately be used by network administrators for political purposes,” he said. "Cisco is not a service or content provider, nor are we a network manager who can determine how those features are used.”
Shiyu Zhou, deputy director of the Global Internet Freedom Consortium said Cisco could be offering, "censorship training" to Chinese authorities. A 2002 internal company document lists China’s "Golden Shield" censorship project as one of Cisco’s "major target customers," Zhou told the Senate human rights subcommittee.
The company’s PowerPoint presentation noted the Chinese government’s goal to combat political dissidents and referred to the banned Falun Gong spiritual group as an "evil cult," Zhou said.
That part of the document was a quote from an official Chinese government statement condemning "hostile elements," Chandler said. The presentation was done by a Chinese engineer working for Cisco.
"We regret that the engineer included that in the presentation, even by way of explaining the Chinese government’s goals,” Chandler said. "We disavow the implication that this reflects in any way Cisco’s views or objectives.”

Doesn’t it drive you crazy that people visit your Web site and then just leave? What are they looking for? What is missing from your site that they need? Here’s a free way to find out.
During my last Web site renovation, I asked my designer to add a search box to the site. My thinking was that it would provide my visitors with an added convenience for finding the information they needed. However, I didn’t realize at the time that these little boxes hold a terrific marketing secret.
The search box I personally use is provided free by http://www.atomz.com. However, it is what ELSE is provided free that really interested me. I can visit their site and view the search terms that my visitors are typing into the box. They also send me a monthly report detailing the phrases and words visitors have searched for. “So what”, you might ask. This is an excellent insight into what others are hoping to find on my site.
Let me give you an example. So far this month the most popular search term recorded was “coaching”. Evidentially, some visitors were interested in having me coach them on their marketing efforts. While I do offer consulting services, I am not a certified coach. However, based on the number of searches for this word, I may need to consider adding this to my list of services. If not, I would need to at least consider finding a viable marketing coach to work out a joint venture with.
The most popular search term last month was “business card designs”. Again, I provide writing services, but not graphic design. However, this lets me know that I should find a business card design professional who will either work with me on a joint venture, or that I trust enough to refer potential clients to.
Another way to use the search results to your advantage is with selling ad space on your site. Just imagine the impact if you presented a potential advertiser with search results showing that visitors consistently searched your site for their product or service. It would be an extremely convincing argument!
There will be some people who don’t understand that the search box is strictly to locate information on your site. You’ll no doubt end up with unusual and unsuitable phrases that don’t have anything to do with what you offer. Just ignore those.
But for the ones who leave you with little clues as to what they are looking for, be thankful! This is as honest and upfront as it gets. The research delivered to you from the site search companies can open many avenues of new product or service ideas for you to explore and potentially add.
Your customers will wonder how you became so in tune with their needs and you will be amazed at the increase in your business!

Wildlife Photography: Five Practical Tips For Beginners

Nature photography is a fascinating pursuit, and wildlife photography can be the most challenging and rewarding field of all. Digital cameras have inspired a whole new generation of photographers to get into wildlife photography.
Most photography courses, workshops and books concentrate on the technical aspects of camera craft: but really good photography relies more on composition, lighting, and sensitivity to your subject. This means you can improve your photography by thinking creatively, not technically.
Here are five of my top tips for taking better wildlife photographs.
Wildlife Photography Tip #1. Get to the subject’s eye level. Wildlife photos are most effective if they create an intimate connection between the subject and the viewer. The best way to do this is to take your photo at the subject’s eye level. This way, your wildlife photo can create the illusion of sharing a moment inside the world of the subject, rather than from the outside looking in.
If, for example, your subject is low to the ground (like a lizard, frog, or even a pet), crouch or lie flat, getting as low as possible so you can take your photo at the subject’s eye level.
Wildlife Photography Tip #2.It’s All In The Eyes. The personal connection mentioned in tip #1 is really about eye contact, so it is important to get the eyes right. If the eyes in your wildlife photo are sharp and clear, the photo will probably work. If they are out of focus, lost in shadow, or if the subject blinks or turns its eyes away, the connection will be lost, and the photo will almost certainly fail.
You don’t even need your whole subject to be in focus. Your animal could be mostly hidden by leaves, in shadow and out of focus. The picture could still work…as long as the eyes are open and captured sharply in the picture.
Wildlife Photography Tip #3. If The Background Doesn’t Help, Get Rid Of It. Many wildlife photos are spoiled because the background is cluttered, distracting, ugly, or just plain inappropriate. For example, seagulls on a beach can be quite beautiful, but seagulls at the local rubbish tip is a different matter. Also, wildlife photos look far less natural if you can tell they were taken in a zoo. Apply this principle: “Anything that does not make my photo better, makes it worse.”
This does not mean you can’t take a good wildlife photo at the zoo, at the tip, or anywhere else for that matter. You just need to manage it. If your background is spoiling your shot, zoom right in on the subject to eliminate as much of the background as possible. By zooming in, you will also reduce the depth of field to a minimum, so any background that does appear in your photo will be out of focus and less distracting.
Wildlife Photography Tip #4. If Your Background Is Working For You, Use It Well. A wildlife photograph that captures the subject in a beautiful natural setting can be even more effective than a simple close-up. My photos of a kangaroo on the beach, for example, show the subject in an unexpected context, making a more interesting image than a close-up portrait style photo.
If you take your wildlife subject as part of a wider landscape, you need to consider all the techniques of composition that apply to landscape photography. Remember the rule of thirds (which may or may not help) and be careful to position your animal so that the subject and the background work together to make a more effective composition. In particular, try to position your wildlife subject so that it looks toward the centre of the picture, not towards the edge of the frame.
Wildlife Photography Tip #5. Capture your subject in the best possible light. Even the most perfectly composed wildlife photo can fail because of bad lighting. Losing your subject in the shadows, glare reflecting off shiny feathers, and shadows across the face of the subject are all simple mistakes that can ruin a photo.
There is no single rule for lighting in a wildlife photograph, but here are some suggestions. I often find the best results when the sky is lightly overcast with thin cloud. This produces light that is bright, but soft and even compared to full sunlight. Your subject will be well illuminated, but you avoid harsh contrast and heavy shadows that rob the image of important detail.
If the weather is sunny, try to take your photos early and late in the day when the sun is low. At these times the light is soft and warmly coloured. It is also easier to catch the full face of your subject in sunlight, rather than half-obscured by shadow.
So there you have my five tips for wildlife photography. I could cheat and add tip #6: take lots of photos. Animals move, blink, flap their wings, and generally find ways to frustrate the wildlife photographer. Don’t forget, with digital photography it costs you nothing to keep snapping. So practice, persevere, and try out these tips…you could be taking better photos in no time.
